| Abstract: | Intraoperative rapid insulin assay has been
successfully used for a year in our hospital for
monitoring completeness of insulinoma excision
during operations on 5 patients* According to
our experience, portal blood insulin levels fell
sharply shortly after removal of insulinoma.
Wicth rapid immunoreactive insulin assay9 the
time between sample taking and final reading
was about 45 minutes. As blood sugar monitoring
is influenced by many factors and correct result
can only be obtained in an average of 70 minutes
or even longer after complete remoival of tumor,
rapid immunoreactive insulin assay has evident
advantages over blood sugar monitoring. |
