Abstract: | An unusual and extremely rare occurrence of the free floating crystals in the aqueous humor of a structurally healthy and functionally normal eye of a 15-year-old white girl is described. The exact nature of these crystals could not be determined but their iridescent nature suggests that they might be cholesterol. This observation leads one to believe, contrary to the current concept, in the very interesting possibility of the crystal formation (or synchysis scintillans) in an apparently healthy eye. |
