| Abstract: | Anterior ischemic optic neuropathy(AION) is a common ophthalmologic disease but it sev erely influences visual function and is difficult to be cured. It may cause permanent dysopia unless the treatment is performed in time. Though there were lots of therapeutic methods for this disease but the results were not satisfied. The external counterpulsation (ECP) can increase blood flow volume and rate in vessels and also promote collateral circulation. We used ECP for 44 cases of AION, and 94.4% gross efficiency were got.The results were significantly better than the medicine group or the hyperbasic oxygen group. It suggested ECP is an useful method for AION.In this paper the therapeutic mechanisms were also discussed. |
