The pharmacological advancement of xenon anesthecia

Background Multiple basic and clinical researches have been done on Xenon anesthesia. Xenon has a number of advantages. However, studies of Xenon anesthesia have not been reported domestically currently. Objective The authors reviewed clinical pharmacology of Xenon anesthesia, and summarized its advantages and disadvantages to promote anesthesiologists to fully understand its pharmacological properties. Content This article summarized mechanism of Xenon anesthesia. Recent pharmacological studies of the interaction between Xenon anesthesia and nervous, circulatory, respiratory, alimentary and other systems were reviewed . The article also describes the shortcomings of clinical application of Xenon and potential solutions. Trend Compared with other anesthesia agent, Xenon shows many advantages.
