Dieulafoy's disease of the bronchus:a case report and review of liferature

Objective To raise awareness of Dieulafoy's disease of the bronchus by one case of Dieulafoy s disease of the bronchus and review of literature reports. Methods The clinic and follow-up data of one patient with Dieulafoy s disease of the bronchus were analyzed,and clinical features,diagnosis,and treatment of Dieulafoy's disease of the bronchus were discussed combining with literatures. Results Dieulafoy's disease of the bronchus is a rare and agnogenic disease pathologically characterized by rupture and hemorrhage of abnormal artery in bronchial submucosa. The common clinical manifestation is unexplained recurrent haemoptysis. Bronchial arteriography is the primary means of diagnosis, and the definite diagnosis is based on abnormal blood vessels by pathological examination. Bronchial artery embolization and surgery are the main treatment, and radical lobectomy can achieve the purpose.Conclusions For patients with unexplained recurrent hemoptysis, Dieulafoy's disease of the bronchus should be considered, and bronchial arteriography and bronchial artery embolization should be made in time to avoid the fatal hemoptysis.
