Abstract: | Summary This report describes the radiographic, colonoscopic, and histologic features in a patient with eosinophilic ileocolitis. To assess the relative meaning of the infiltration of eosinophils noted in the colonoscopic biopsy material from this patient, the histology of colonoscopic biopsy material obtained from 12 patients with Crohn's involvement of the colon was reveiwed. This paper suggests that eosinophilic ileocolitis may be more common than originally thought and the counting of high-power microscopic fields for eosinophils may be a useful way of distinguishing eosinophilic ileocolitis from Crohn's ileocolitis. |
