Abstract:Objective To investigate the association between polymorphism in CD14-260A/G and the risk of prostate cancer. Methods The polymorphism of CD14-260A/G was analyzed with polymerase chain reaction-ligase detection reaction(PCR-LDR) technique using genomic DNA isolated from peripheral blood. Moreover, the relation of prostate cancer with patients’ age, body mass index(BMI),smoking and drinking habit, and family history in different genotypes. Results Overall,CD14-260 gene A/G polymorphism didn’t increase the risk of prostate cancer(P=0.284,OR=1.27,95% CI=0.82-1.94).In the stratified analysis, drinking habit(P<0.003) and family history of cancer(P<0.001) had a significantly increased association with prostate cancer. In addition,CD14-260 G(AG+GG) allele increased the risk of prostate cancer only in patients younger than 70(P=0.011,OR=2.93,95%CI=1.28-6.70).Conclusions CD14-260 A/G polymorphism had no association with the risk of prostate cancer.However,CD14-260 G(AG+GG) allele could increase the risk of prostate cancer in patients younger than 70 years of age.
Keywords:prostate cancer  CD14  polymorphism  allele
