Abstract:The effect of hyperthermia combined with (or without) chemotherapy and irradiation to the human esophageal carcinoma cells and of the normal mucosa epithelioid cells were studied by incorporation with the 3H-Thymidine(3H-TdR) and the MTT assay in vitro for 10 times. The results showed:1.Hyperthermia alone had prominent temperature-dependent cytocidal effect on the esophageal carcinoma cells, just as chemotherapy or radiotherapy alone. 2.Combination of hyperthermia with chemotherapy or hyperthermia with radiotherapy was more effective than a single modality.3. Concomitant application of hyperthermia, chemotherapy and radiotherapy had a maximal effect on the cancer cells. 4.The combined treatment had a better effect on the esophageal carcinoma cells than the normal tissue cells. Hyperthermochemoradiotherapy proved to be effective and safe. It might be applied clinically.
