Pharmaceutical Care for One Case of Drug Fever Induced by Vancomycin

Objective: To explore the key points of pharmaceutical care for drug fever induced by vancomycin. Methods: Clinical pharmacists participated in the consultation and medication intervention of a child with drug fever induced by vancomycin, and searched and analyzed the literature on drug fever induced by vancomycin. Results: Vancomycin-induced drug fever might be related to immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated allergic reactions, the onset of fever was from 1 to 15 d after the start of drug administration, and the body temperature returned to normal within 3 d after drug withdrawal. Conclusion: Drug fever induced by vancomycin is not uncommon, clinicians and clinical pharmacists should be alert to drug fever. Drug fever and infection fever should be differentiated in time and appropriate intervention measures should be taken.
