Clinical efficacy of oral mesalazine enteric-coated tablets combined with Xilei Powder, L-glutamine and lidocaine retention enema in the treatment of distal ulcerative colitis

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of oral mesalazine enteric-coated tablets combined with Xilei Powder, L-glutamine and lidocaine retention enema in the treatment of distal ulcerative colitis. Methods A total of 80 patients with active mild to moderate distal ulcerative colitis (E1, E2) admitted to and treated in Hongqi Hospital Affiliated to Mudanjiang Medical University from March 2012 to March 2015 were selected as the research objects. The patients were randomly divided into the experimental group (n=40) and the control group (n=40). The patients in the experimental group were treated with oral mesalazine enteric-coated tablets combined with Xilei powder, L-glutamine and lidocaine retention enema, while the patients in the control group were treated with conventional oral mesalazine enteric-coated tablets. The therapeutic efficacy and adverse reactions (ARs) in the two groups of patients were observed and compared. Results After treatment, the efficacy of abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody purulent stool were scored. Rachmilewitz score and Geboes score in the two groups were all lower than those before treatment (P<0.05). The degree of decrease in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), and the total effective rate in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Meanwhile, there was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of ARs between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Mesalazine enteric-coated tablets combined with Xilei Powder, L-glutamine and lidocaine retention enema in the treatment of mild to moderate distal ulcerative colitis can significantly improve the therapeutic efficacy without increasing the incidence of ARs. Therefore, it is worthy of clinical application.
