Mitochondria in the Pathogenesis and Treatment of Septic Liver Injury

Mitochondrial dysfunction occurred in sepsis leads to energy depletion, which is related to the occurrence of organ dysfunction. There are abundant mitochondria in liver cells, and liver is an important target of sepsis related organ damage. This article summarized the role of mitochondria in the pathogenesis of liver injury in sepsis, and the significance of the dynamic balance of mitochondrial repair process in maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis and reducing liver injury, in order to provide reference for the treatment of sepsis.
