Abstract:Three cases of peritonitis caused by Pseudomonas putrefaciens in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis are described. In two cases asymptomatic colonization of the dialysate preceded overt infection. All patients responded successfully to standard antibiotic therapy with gentamicin or ofloxacin. This is the first report of peritonitis caused by P. putrefaciens.
