Analysis of the effect of two immunization programs on rabies vaccine

Abstract:Objective  To study the effect of rabies vaccine immunization programs with different doses on antibody titers. Methods  The plasma donors were divided into two groups according to the primary immunization dosage. The first group was immunized with two doses at the first time, and one dose at both second and third times. The second group was immunized with one dose at the first, second, and third times. The two groups have the same interval. The titer of rabies antibody in plasma was detected on day 14, 28, 42, 56, 70, and 84 after the first immunization. Result  On day 14, 28, and 42 after the first immunization, the first group obtained statistically significantly  (c2 values were 4.65, 8.69, 4.11, respectively, all P<0.05) higher antibody positive conversion rate. As for the antibody titer standard of single source plasma for blood products (≥ 8 IU/ml), the difference was statistically significant only within 14 days after the first immunization (c2=5.45, P<0.05) .There was no significant difference in antibody titer between the two groups on days 56, 70, and 84 (P>0.05). Conclusion  Rabies vaccine immunization program with high dose can achieve better immune response effect during the program, but there is no significant difference in the long-term antibody level between high and low dosage immunization program.
