Abstract: | A large number of genes in bacteria appear to be expressed in processes regulated by very different mechanisms dependent on the activities of the proteins of the phosphoenolpyruvate/sugar phosphotransferase system. These mechanisms include protein phosphorylation, antitermination, enhancement, antagonistic repression/activation, sensory detection involving two component systems, and other processes not yet understood. |
