Impact of traceability management system application in central sterile supply departments on risk events and management satisfaction

Objective:To explore the impact of traceability management systems on risk events and management satisfaction in central sterile supply department(CSSD).Methods:Centralized management of reusable medical devices was adopted in this CSSD from March 1, 2017 to May 31, 2017. The traceability management system was adopted from June 1, 2017 to August 31, 2017.The occurrence of risk events, work management and staff management satisfaction were compared.Results:The overall incidence of CSSD risk events from June 1 to August 31, 2017 was significantly lower than that from March 1 to May 31, 2017, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). The qualified rate of CSSD packaging and sterilization was significantly higher than that from March 1, 2017 to May 31, 2017, while the device loss rate was significantly lower than that from March 1, 2017 to May 31, 2017, with statistically significant differences( P<0.05). The standard operation, instrument counting, troubleshooting and work efficiency scores of CSSD staff were significantly higher than those from March 1, 2017 to May 31, 2017, and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05). Conclusions:After the application of CSSD traceability management system, the incidence of medical risk events is reduced, the qualified rate of packaging and sterilization is improved, the device loss rate is reduced, and the use and management satisfaction of staff is improved, so as to improve the risk control ability and comprehensive management level of CSSD.
