| Abstract: | Objective To observe the effect of traditional Chinese medicine on visceral fat in patients with metabolic syndrome( MS).Methods 140 patients with MS were randomly divided into two groups. The control group was treated with medical nutrition therapy,hypoglycemia,blood pressure,lipid regulation and other treatments,while the experimental group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine for 90 days. The changes of visceral fat area were observed by electrical impedance measurement. Results It was found that the visceral fat area and traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) syndrome factor score in the experimental group were significantly improved after treatment( P < 0. 01). There was no improvement in visceral level and visceral fat area in the control group before and after treatment( P >0. 05). The weight of body fat and the area of visceral fat decreased more significantly in the experimental group than those in the control group( P < 0. 01). The TCM syndrome factor score of the experimental group decreased more significantly( P < 0. 05). Conclusion Chinese medicine has advantages in improving visceral fat and clinical symptoms in patients with MS. |
