Abstract:Objective:To investigate the correlation between diabetes(T2DM)and periodontal disease(CP)and the possible mechanism.Methods:60 SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups(n=15),the rat model of control,T2DM CP and T2DM with CP were established.After 4 and 8 weeks,the periodontal probe depth and plaque index in the experimental area of the rats were measured,the expression levels of IL-6,TNF-and AGEs in serum were detected by ELISA.Results:Compared with the control group,in T2DM and T2DM&CP groups blood glucose increased(P<0.05)after 4 and 8 weeks of model construction,the serum levels of IL-6,TNF-αand AGEs were increased(P<0.05),the gene and protein expression levels of AGEs in the periodontal tissues of T2DM&CP rats were higher than those of the T2DM and CP groups.Conclusion:Diabetes can promote the development of periodontal disease and may be related to the increase of AGEs level.
