Study on Smoking Status and Influencing Factors of Undergraduates in a University

Objective To analyze the smoking status and influencing factors of undergraduates in a University.To provide a scientific basis for further controlling the smoking rate and launching anti-smoking campaigns.Methods From October to November 2019,self-designed questionnaires were used,and the method of stratified cluster sampling was used to conduct field surveys.The subjects were randomly selected from different majors in different grades of a University by stratified cluster sampling method,and self-made questionnaires were used for investigation.Single factorχ2 test and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the factors affecting smoking.Results A total of 1000 college students were surveyed and 846 valid questionnaires were collected.Among them,76 smokers accounting for 9.0%of the effective survey.38 men and 38 women,each accounting for 50%;23 freshmen,accounting for 30.3%;80.3%of the smokers believed that smoking was harmful to the health of the people around them.Smoking is a means of communication,accounting for 46.1%.Smoking can relieve fatigue,accounting for 43.4%.Smoking is a kind of spiritual sustenance,accounting for 39.5%,smoking is an unchangeable habit,accounting for 30.3%,while smoking can make thinking active,accounting for 22.4%.The number of urban students smoking is much higher than that of rural students,accounting for 89.5%and 10.5%of the number of smokers respectively.Conclusion The freshman’s smoking rate is the highest.As a means of communication and reliving fatigue are the main reasons for college students to try smoking.Birthplace is an important factor affecting college students’smoking.Tobacco control publicity and education should be strengthened for college freshmen.
