Effectiveness Evaluation of Health Education on Children's Oral Cavity Pit and Fissure Sealing

Objective To investigate the impact of oral health education in both children and parents,which is associate with the awareness rate of oral health knowledge and the consent rate of the pit and fissure sealing.Also,providing basic health education methods for carrying out the pit and fissure sealing intervention project.Methods Multi-layer clusters were selected from 12 primary schools in ZunYi City to carry out the pit and fissure sealing.The subjects were second-year primary school students and parents,and they were randomly divided into paper materials presentation group(study group 1)and multimedia PowerPoint(PPT)courseware presentation group(study group 2)conducted oral health education and questionnaires.Results Before oral health education,the average awareness rate of oral health knowledge and behavior of students and parents was low,48.8%and 79.3%,respectively.After oral health education,the average knowledge of oral health knowledge and behavior of students in groups 1 and 2 was studied.The rates were significantly higher than before health education(P<0.01),and the study 2 group was significantly higher than the study 1 group(P<0.01).The consent rate of the pit and fissure sealing of the study group 2(92.7%)was significantly higher than that of the study group 1(81.9%),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=60.363,P<0.01).Conclusion Effective oral health education methods can significantly improve the knowledge of oral health knowledge and behaviors in students and parents.Moreover,those methods are conducive to the implementation of free intervention programs of pit and fissure sealing in elementary school students.
