Abstract:Cell bodies with vasoactive intestinal polypeptide-like immunoreactivity (VIP-LI) were found in the thalamus of the rat. They were distributed throughout the ventrolateral nucleus (VL) and in the whole extent of the thalamic reticular nucleus (R) except for its most rostral part. On the basis of soma diameters, VIP-LI cells in the VL and R were assumed to be projection neurons.
Keywords:vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP)   thalamus   ventrolateral thalamic nucleus   thalamic reticular nucleus   rat   immunohistochemistry
