Abstract:The patient reported outcome (PRO) aims to evaluate the subjective experience of subjects, the improvement of subjects'' symptoms, the satisfaction degree of diagnosis and treatment of diseases, using the theory and strategies of modern psychology. During this process, people-oriented concept has been observed, which was consistent with the classical theory of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). PRO has attracted increasing attention in TCM medical research, as well as being chosen as one of the key contents of current TCM clinical evidence and effect evaluation. Based on the core problem and principles, this paper attempted to discuss the issues such as the definition and sources of PRO, the measurement and meanings of PRO, interpretation and cross-cultural compilation of scales, application of PRO in TCM clinical effect assessment, construction of PRO and its model optimization in TCM clinical practice, etc., focusing on the introduction and evaluation of PRO scale abroad, the establishment and evaluation of TCM PRO scale, and so on. We hope that all these considerations can provide reference for better understanding of the development of PRO scale and TCM clinical practice.
Keywords:Measurement of clinical outcome  Translation and evaluation of scales  Development of scales  TCM clinical practice  Optimized model
