The Research Advancement in the Antioxidative Stress Role of Mangiferin

Mangiferin is a four-hydroxypyridine carbon glycoside, a double benzene pyridme ketones. Modern pharma-cological and clinical studies have shown that mangiferin and roangiferin containing plant extracts have various physiological and pharmacological effects. Recent studies have found that roangiferin showed a strong antioxidant effect both in vitro and in vivo, which has a good application prospect. To clarify these antioxidant mechanisms will not only profit to raise recognition of mangiferin, but also provide the theo- retical basis to guide the experimental study and clinical treatment.
