Abstract: | Abstract. We report the case of a patient who developed notalgiaparesthetica during the recovery from a neuralgic amyotrophy. A23-year-old woman had a typical neuralgic amyotrophy (severeshoulder pain, followed by a long thoracic nerve palsy); fivemonths after the onset of pain, when scapular winging wasimproving, she began to feel a burning sensation in a restrictedinterscapular area, on the same side. Electromyography wasconsistent with a long thoracic nerve neuropathy, with minorneurogenic changes in deltoid and biceps brachii. Radiography ofthe spine was unremarkable. The notalgia parestheticadisappeared shortly before the complete recovery of scapularwinging. The abnormal activation of shoulder girdle and spineextensor muscles during the time of long thoracic nerve palsymay explain the association between the two disorders. |
