Rationality of using proton pump inhibitors in 167 cases of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy

Objective To analyze the rationality of using proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in breast cancer patients treated with chemotherapy and provide references for the standard use of.Methods A hundred and sixty-seven cases of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in The First People''s Hospital of Hefei from June 2018 to May 2019 were collected. The use of PPIs in these caseswas counted and analyzed retrospectively based on the practice guidelines.Results Of the 167 cases, there were 134 cases treatedwith PPIs, and mismatched indications were found in 101 cases, inappropriate usage and dosage in 109 cases, and other inappropriateness in 2 cases.Conclusions Inappropriate use of PPIs including mismatched indications and unsuitable usage and dosage occurs frequently in the hospital. It is suggested to take rectification measures, through multidepartment interaction and drug intervention, to regulate the application of PPIs in chemotherapy for breast cancer patients.
