Abstract: | The assumptions of cognitive social psychology provide a suitable analysis for the understanding of how chronic pain sufferers interpret information and make decisions about attendance for treatment. This approach pays particular attention to the social context in which the pain behaviour occurs. Studies of socio-cognitive aspects of pain are reviewed and the implications for future research are outlined. |
