Clinical research of fleabane injection combined with piracetam on vascular Dementia

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of fleabane injection combined with piracetam on vascular dementia.Methods One hundred and twenty-three cases with vascular dementia were selected from October,2007 to October,2009,and were randomly divided into observation group and control group.Piracetam tablet with the dose of 0.8 g was taken orally to control group,three times in a day,the course was 12 weeks;Piracetam tablet with the dose of 0.8 g was taken orally to observation group,three times in a day,the course was 12 weeks,and fleabane injection with the dose of 40 mL plused to 250 mL glucose injection by intravenous drip,one time in a day,the course was 4 weeks.Mini-mental state examination(MMSE) was used to detect the orientation,memory,linguistic competence,visual space of the patients in two groups before and after treatment.Activity of daily living scale(ADL)was used to detect the physical activity of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living in two groups before and after treatment.Results Except for visual space,the other items in two groups after treatment compared with those in two group before treatment respectivly,there was a statistical difference(P<0.05);The change range of the total scores of MMSE in observation group compared with that in control,there was a statistical difference(P<0.05).The score of the physical activity of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living,the total scores in two groups after treatment compared with those in two group before treatment respectivly,there was a statistical difference(P<0.05).The change range of total scores in observation group compared with that in control group,there was a statistical difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Fleabane injection combined with piracetam can improve the scores of MMSE and ADL of the patients with vascular dementia,and improve the quality of life.The clinical efficacy is significant.
