Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the effect of virtual reality technology-based functional exercise on neurological rehabilitation in elderly patients with cerebral hemorrhage. MethodsFrom January 2017 to June 2018, 110 patients with cerebral hemorrhage were prospectively collected and randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 55 cases in each group. The observation group underwent functional exercises based on virtual reality technology, while the control group underwent routine functional exercises. The treatment lasted 6 months in both groups. Fugl-Meyer motor function score and Berg balance scale were used to evaluate the motor and balance functions of the patients. Barthel index and mini-mental state examination (MMSE) scale were used to evaluate the life ability and cognitive function of patients. Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS) were used to evaluate the mental health of patients. ResultsThere was no significant difference in Fugl-Meyer motor function or Berg balance scale scores between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05); after treatment, the scores in both groups were higher than those before treatment (P<0.05), and they were higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in Barthel index or MMSE score between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05); after treatment, the scores of the two groups were higher than those before treatment (P<0.05), and they were higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in SAS or SDS scores between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05); the scores of the two groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and they were lower in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). ConclusionFunctional exercise based on virtual reality technology can significantly improve the neurological rehabilitation and quality of life in elderly patients with cerebral hemorrhage.
