Persistent hyperamylasemia in a patient with ascites

There are several different causes of persistent hyperamylasemia. We have presented a case of macroamylasemia, which accounts for a significant percentage of such cases. Awareness and early laboratory confirmation of this condition may promote more cost-effective management and lessen patient morbidity.
