Intraoperative, endoscopic lithotripsy of pancreatic duct calculi. A contribution to the surgical treatment of chronic calcifying pancreatitis

The problem of chronical calcifying pancreatitis is demonstrated in two female patients. Resection of the pancreas is necessary, if prepapillar concrements cannot be extracted. By two new techniques, ultrasound-lithotripsy and laser-induced shock-wave-lithotripsy, it is possible to destroy concrements and to remove them. These new techniques are now used primarily in surgery.
