Analysis of the relationship between serum uric acid level and cardiovascular risk factors in military officers

Objective To study the relationship between serum uric acid level and cardiovascular risk factors in military officers.Methods A sample of 454 military officers was taken from those who stayed in the convalescent home.Serum uric acid,blood pressure,triglyceride,total cholesterol,blood sugar on an empty stomach,waist/hip ratio were measured for the study.Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 15.0 software package.Results Regardless of gender,serum uric acid level increased gradually with age.At the same age,the level of serum uric acid for female（≤50 y） before menopause was obviously lower than that of the male.There was obvious correlation between serum uric acid level and systolic pressure,triglyceride,blood sugar on an empty stomach and waist/hip ratio,however serum uric acid level was not significatly correlated with（P〉0.05）.Conclusion Serum uric acid level has some effect on systolic pressure,triglyceride,blood sugar on an empty stomach and waist/hip ratio.Hyperuricemia is an independent risk factor for the cardiovascular disease.
