| Abstract: | The relation between selenium and Kaschin-Beck disease in 6 children with polydactylia ( 3 of them with Kaschin-Beck disease) were morphologically studied with X-ray, pathohistologcal and ultrastructural techniques. Results showed that there was no significantly repairable effect of selenium on chondronecrosis of the Kaschin-Beck disease and, deficience of selenium was not the only pathogenic factor of Kaschin-Beck disease. The membrane structure was improved and its function increased by administration of selenium; the changes in polydactylia on the lateral of thumb could not represent the changes in the other fingers. |
