Abstract:Objective: To study the relationship between onychomadesis after hand-foot-and-mouth-disease and trace elements. Method: A retrospective analysis was performed to analyze the clinical data of 212 cases with onychomadesis after hand-foot-and-mouth-disease and their trace elements from May 2015 to May 2016. Results: The male/female ratio was 1.12 to 1, with the average age of onset of(58.55±36.42) months. Following hand-foot-and-mouth disease, average times to develop onycholmadesis were(68.94±59.53) days, with the highest incidence between(4~6) weeks(P<0.05). Deficiencies in zinc, iron and calcium accounted for 51.42%(109 cases), 18.4%(39 cases), and 5.66%(12 cases), respectively. Average blood levels of minerals were(18.16±3.32) μmol/L for copper,(1.69±0.11) mmol/L for calcimu,(1.58±0.12) mmol/L for magnesium,(7.98±0.60) mmol/L for iron,(32.18±24.61) μg/L for lead,(1.65±1.26) μg/L for cadmium, and(70.64±13.19) μmol/L for zinc. Conclusion: Onychomadesis might be a late complication of hang-foot-and-mouth-disease with no correlation with trace elements.
Keywords:hand-foot-and-mouth disease  onychomadesis  trace elements  children
