Study on Altruism of Recruits and Its Psychosocial Influential Factors

Objective To explore the altruism of recruits and its psychosocial factors,in order to provide scientific data for mental health education.Methods Five hundred and sixty two recruits were evaluated on altruism scale of Philosophies of Human Nature（PHN）,Symptom Checklist 90（SCL-90）,16 personality factor questionnaire（16PF） and Life Event Scale（LES）.Such analysis as rank transform one factor ANOVA,Spearman correlation and Amos pathway were implemented.Results Significant difference of altruism was showed in different educational level recruits;altruism of recruits were significantly correlated with 16PF（r=0.115～0.321,P0.01）and the total and factors score of SCL-90（r=0.109～0.262,P0.01）;positive altruism of recruits were significantly correlated with the negative total score of LES and the events working and studying（r=-0.099,-0.084,P0.05）;pathway analysis of Amos showed that there were three significant ways： ①mental health→personality→positive altruism;②personality→negative;③mental health→personality→negative altruism.The direct effect of personality to altruism（β=0.38,P0.001）and the indirect effects of it between mental health and altruism were significant（β=0.12,0.19;P0.001）.Conclusion Altruism of recruits was significantly influenced by mental health,personality and life event,and personality had very important role in the idea of altruism of recruits.
