Alzheimer disease(AD)is a chronic neurodegenerative disease characterized clinically by progressive loss of memory and cognition.However,the causes of AD remain unclear.Studies have shown that AD may be related to gender,cancer,and diet.More specifically,AD is associated with gender because the incidence of AD is much higher in females than in males.This is supported by the findings that patients with prostate cancer who have been treated with androgen deprivation therapy are more susceptible to AD.In addition,studies have also shown that AD is negatively correlated with cancer.Patients with cancer usually have better memory than non-cancer controls.On the other hand,the incidence of cancer is much lower in AD relative to non-AD controls.Finally,AD is associated with diet.People fell concerned about high-carbon foods because of the doubled,risk of AD in diabetic patients.Beneficial consequences may also be achieved following mediterranean diet(MIND Diet),moderate drinking of red wine and(or)coffee,although further studies are required.Overall,AD is a multi-factor disease,which calls of multiple approaches to treatment and prevention.
