Abstract:Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is one of the most common indications for liver transplantation worldwide. Because of the existing organ shortage, adult-to-adult living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) has become an important method of expanding the donor pool to meet the ever-increasing need. However, despite advantages such as the quality of the hepatic graft and the timing of the transplant, the exact role of LDLT in the treatment of HCV is still unclear. In this review, we aim to address some of these issues in an effort to highlight both the advantages and disadvantages, as well as to identify the main challenges, of using LDLT for treating patients with HCV infection.
