Abstract:Objective: To observe the effect of epidural analgesia and intravenous analgesia on the plasma immunoglobulins concentration for postoperative analgesia of upper abdominal surgery.Methods: Ninety patients after upper abdominal surgery were randomly and equally divided into group Ⅰ(intramuscular injection of pethidine 50 mg),group Ⅱ(continuous intravenous analgesia) and group Ⅲ(continuous epidural analgesia).Immunoglobulins and visual analogue score(VAS) of postoperative analgesia were measured.Results: Immunoglobulins at all time points significantly reduced in group Ⅰ as compared with that respectively before operation.Immunoglobulins of group Ⅱ reduced significantly during operation and on the first day after operation.Immunoglobulins on the third day recovered to the level of pre-operation.Immunoglobulins of group Ⅱ on the third postoperative day increased significantly as compared with that of group Ⅰ.The effect of analgesia was the best in group Ⅲ,and the effect was better in groupⅡ than that in group Ⅰ.Conclusion: Epidural analgesia is better than intravenous analgesia and temporary analgesia for postoperative analgesia,and epidural analgesia can attenuate the immune suppression effects induced by surgical stress.
