Clinical Significance of Ephrin A1 Expression in Cervical Carcinoma

Objective: To study the expression of Ephrin A1 in cervical cancer and it relationship with hypoxia microenvironment and angiogenesis.Methods: Immunohistochemistry staining method(SP method) was used to evaluate the expression of Ephrin A1 and Eph A1 receptors,and HIF-1α,and microvessel density(MVD) in different cervical tissues(65 cases of cervical carcinoma,73 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and 49 cases of normal cervical tissues),and the relationship between Ephrin A1 and clinicopathology parameters of cervical cancer and HIF-1 expression was analyzed.Results: The protein of Eph A1 was stably expressed in different cervical tissues(P>0.05),but the expression rate of Ephrin A1 was higher in cervical cancer(73.85%) than that in normal cervix(24.49%) and cervix intraepithelial lesions(57.53%)(both P<0.05).Furthermore,the higher expression of Ephrin A1 was strongly related to the clinical stages and pathological grades(both P<0.05).Also,it was positively correlated with the higher expression of HIF-1α and MVD in cervical cancer(P<0.05).Conclusion: The Eph A1 receptor is stably expressed in cervical tissue,while Ephrin A1 is highly expressed in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and in cervical carcinoma,and possibly stimulated by the highly expressed HIF-1α to participate in the angiogenesis in the oncogensis of cervical cancer.
