The role and self-protection of clinical engineers in the control of nosocomial infection

Objective:To investigate and study the existing risk of nosocomial infection on medical equipment,and to study the feasible methods of prevention and control within the range of the responsibilities of clinical engineers.Methods:A self-made questionnaire was adopted to investigate the status of surface microorganisms and disinfection of using medical equipment in hospital,and the status of hand disinfection of clinical engineers.And the existing reasons of the risks of nosocomial infection were analyzed.And the sterilization ability of wiping disinfection method for microorganism was tested and the reliability of wiping disinfection was further assessed.Results:Many kinds of harmful microbes existed on the surface of medical equipment,while the implementation rate of disinfection on medical equipment,which were sent to clinical engineering department for maintenance,was no high,and it only was 53.4%.The wiping disinfection lacked reliability,and the protective measures of clinical engineers were not enough at the same time,and these reasons leaded to clinical engineers,medical personnel and patients had to be confronted with the higher risk of nosocomial infection.Conclusion:Clinical engineers should adopt feasible measures to closely cooperate with the infected department of hospital and clinical departments so as to reduce the risk of nosocomial infection and do well the safety protection themselves.
