| Abstract: | Doxorubicin and pegylated liposomal doxorubicin are key compounds of several induction regimens used prior to autologous stem cell transplantation in patients with de novo multiple myeloma, such as vincristine, doxorubicin, dexamethasone (VAD), vincristine, pegylated liposomal doxorubicin/Doxil®, dexamethasone (DVd) or PS-341/bortezomib, doxorubicin, dexamethasone (PAD). The aim of this article is to summarize the more recent data available on the efficacy of these combinations and to discuss their role as part of initial therapy. |
