Mitochondrial protein Smac/DIABLO and the tumor

Abstract:Smac/DIABLO, the first two mitochondria-derived activator of caspase/low potential point of direct inhibitor of apoptosis protein binding protein, is a recent discovered mitochondria lpro-apoptotic protein. It enhanced caspase activity by eliminating the function of inhibitor of apoptosis protein family, and promoting apoptosis. In this paper, we briefly reviewed biological characteristics, the mechanisms involved in apoptosis, the relations with tumor of Smac/DIABLO, and some of the problems existing in the research and possible research trends.
