The SWOT Analysis of Implementing Electronic Medical Record Systems in Medical Institutions

The strengths of Electronic Medical Record Systems（EMRS） included promoting the patient to participate in and medical security, improving service quality and performance, but there were some weaknesses in the investment cost, technical standards, implementation process, legal aspect. Along with the health system reform, the development of health information system and medical institution, the demand of improving health service performance were the opportunities for establishment, but the security and the protection of personal privacy were the threats. For improving the establishment and development of EMRS, it needs to seize the opportunities, display the strengths and make up for weaknesses and respond to the threats.
