INVESTIGATIONS IN TOXOPLASMA INFECTION IN XINJIANG

During the years 1986-1988,some preliminary investigations in Toxoplasma infection of human and animals were carried out in some areas in Urumqi, Tacheng, Aksu, Hoten, Bertala, Bayingolin and Changji. Among the 1813 persons examined, 104 were serologically positive with an infection rate of 5.74% and, 334 out of the 5069 animals examined were seroposifive with an infection rate of 6.59%. It was also found that significant differences existed among people of different age groups in different regions and there were some regional and specific differences in animals as well. No Toxoplasma was isolated from domestic animals that showed higher liters in the serological examinations.
