Abstract:Serial changes in the amino acid pattern given by meconium and faeces from normal babies and a baby kept in a sterile environment were studied. The effect of diet and bacteria on the amino acid pattern are discussed. Two substances, tentatively identified as lactose-lysine and glucose-lysine, are thought to be derived from processed milks.
