| Abstract: | The etiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has not been fully elucidated. Evidence indicates that dysregulation of intestinal mucosal immunity plays a critical role in the pathogen- esis of IBD since it can cause overproduction of inflammatory cytokines and lead to uncontrolled intestinal inflammation.
