儿童中空肠弯曲菌感染情况的调查

本文报道了成都市及郊区农村529名9岁以下儿童和腹泻病儿室肠弯曲菌感染情况。城乡学龄前儿童的带菌率分别为0.6％和6.5％,二者差异显著(P<0.005)。腹泻病儿空肠弯曲菌阳性率为5.3％,不同年龄组中阳性率有显著差异(P<0.025)。9例空肠弯曲菌肠炎均是2岁以下婴幼儿。63名家庭成员中成人未分离出空肠弯曲菌。结果证实成都市城乡儿童中存在空肠弯曲菌感染。

A SURVEY OF CAMPYLOBACTER INFECTION IN CHILDREN

From April to May 1984, in Chengdu,529 children under 9 years of age wereexamined and the stool samples culturedfor Campylobacter jejuni. C. jejuni wasisolated from 9 (5.3%) of 169 outpatientsand 3(12.0%) of 25 children with diarrhea.The isolation rates in differen't age-groupsof the patients with diarrhea varied quitesignificantly (P<0. 025). Controls were per-formed in 335 healthy children with 3.0%C. jejuni positive. The isolation rates indifferent age-groups of the controls werenot significant. Among the healthy chil-dren aged 2-7 years, the isolation rates were0.6% in the city and 6.5% in the village.The difference was quite significant (P<0.005). Nine cases of C. jejuni enteritiswere below 2 years of age. Diarrhea fre-quency of most cases was less than 10 timeswas mainly mucous or watery. The differencein the isolation rates between male andfemale was not significant. The fami1y members of C.jejuni positiveand the neighbors were chosen for thisstudy. C. jejuni was isolated from 2 childrenof 63 family members, the rates being 3. 7%and 2.8% respectively. The difference wasnot significant. The person-to-person trans-mission was not demonstrated. C.jejuni wasnot isolated from 48 adults of the familymembers. The study shows that entertic infectionwith C. jejuni exists in Chengdu, but oftenasymptomatic in village children. This papersuggests that the protection should be fo-cused in the children under 5 years of age,the administration of food and water, anddomestic animals and poultry should bealso enforced.
