Pathologists Set Action Plan to Aid Missing Children Problem

Abstract

Intracellular crystalline deposits were observed in visceral adipose tissue in nearly one-third of stillborn autopsies reviewed. These spicular brown crystals are a frequent finding in stillbirth autopsies. The artifact, sometimes prominent and extensive, should be recognized as formalin pigment and without pathologic consequence. (The J Histotechnol 16:69,1993)
