Improving compliance with antihypertensive therapy
Authors:M A Moore
Affiliation:Danville Urologic Clinic, Virginia.
Abstract:Optimal control of hypertension may be impeded by poor patient-physician communication, excessive dietary sodium, cost of antihypertensive medications and laboratory studies, and drugs that antagonize antihypertensive agents. The physician is responsible for removing as many of these obstacles as possible. Prescribing an effective, inexpensive, once-daily medication with minimal side effects will improve patient compliance considerably.
