Effectiveness and analysis of interventions for HIV/AIDS prevention among female sex workers in entertainment establishments in Shangqiu

Objective To learn about the knowledge of AIDS among female sex workers in in entertainment establishments in Shangqiu,their related risk behavior and the condition of HIV infection.Providing AIDS prevention training,activities like sending out condoms for free and analyzing the effectiveness.Methods Extract 10-15 entertainment establishments in Shangqiu by suited sample method,conduct a self-administered questionnaire suevey among 200 female sex workers before intervention（above seven in ten correction is knowing） and draw blood for HIV,syphilis and other antibodies,then hold practice such as training,peer education,free condoms and so on with an after intervention anonymous questionnaire,in addition evaluate the effectiveness.Results Our respondents have some knowledge of AIDS but not complete.Through intervention,the rate of AIDS knowing was raised from 57.5 %（115/200） to 88.0 %（176/200）,the rate of using condoms with their customer in last time was raised from 67.5 %（135/200） to 91.5 %（183/200）,and 15.5 %（31/200） to 83.5 %（167/200） during the whole month,no HIV antibody positive and syphilis-positive rate was 1.0 %.Conclusion The rate of AIDS knowledge knowing and condom using are both increased after intervention,indicating the intervention project among female sex workers in entertainment establishments in Shangqiu have achieved remarkable achievement.
