Application of Dermoscopy in Pigmented Skin Lesions

Dermoscopy is a non-invasive and in vivo method for early diagnosis and differential diagnosis of pigmented skin lesions. It can help clinicians to fully evaluate numerous morphological features invisible to the naked eye, and to enhance the diagnosis of pigmented skin lesions. In recent years, with the broadening of dermoscopy application, some new terminologies and technical improvements related to it have emerged. This article reviews its commonly-used parameters, application at peculiar anatomical sites, various diagnostic criteria for simplifying diagnosis procedures of pigmented skin lesions and roles in the follow-up and automatic diagnosis of diseases.
