Analysis on the Level and Influencing Factors of Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Literacy of Residents in Pudong New Area of Shanghai

Objective To understand the level of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) health literacy of residents in Pudong New Area of Shanghai, and to provide data basis for the establishment of district-level TCM health literacy monitoring and intervention system. Methods Using the stratified and multistage sampling method, the permanent residents aged 15-69 in Pudong New Area were selected to investigate.Results The level of TCM health literacy of residents in Pudong New Area is 17.08%, of which the literacy levels of basic concepts of TCM, suitable methods for the public of TCM, healthy lifestyle of TCM, cultural knowledge of TCM, and information understanding ability of TCM were 34.08%, 8.15%, 11.40%, 35.84%and 48.18% respectively. Conclusion The public has a certain level of information acquisition and understanding of the health culture knowledge and common sense of TCM, but the actual use and methods still need to be strengthened. More attention should be paid to the promotion of appropriate TCM techniques when formulating TCM publicity strategies.
